Tasks and Responsibilities:

Under the direct supervision of the Chief of Mission Security, the incumbent will be carrying out the following duties: 

  1. Controlling access in the OMIK premises, while preventing unauthorized visitors or property damage and providing general building security.
  2. Ensuring that all personnel carry the OMiK ID cards and visitors entering the building receive a temporary Visitors Pass. Ensuring that visitors, luggage, parcels and mails are examined in the respective scanners.
  3. Acting quickly in the event of an emergency, while referring to the emergences security instructions and maintaining communication. Upon instructions, guiding staff during security incidents/accidents or major security events.
  4. Operating and monitoring VHF radio communication, satellite phone, vehicles GPS tracking system, alarm systems and Closed-circuit television (CCTV) system and using efficiently all these communication and monitoring systems in the event of an incident/accident or crisis.
  5. Assisting in case of any security incident/accident involving Mission members or during occurrence of any security events that may directly or indirectly affect Mission security, and notifying Mission management.
  6. Actively participating in fire drills and emergency situations, assisting in firefighting and evacuation of the buildings during emergencies.
  7. Being responsible for monitoring and protecting OMIK property and staff against any criminal activity and damage.
  8. Co-ordinating with the outsourced Security Guards on maintaining the register of persons and vehicles entering and leaving the building or parking area.
  9. Upon instructions, undertaking random vehicle mobile patrols to ensure a safe and secure environment in various OMiK premises or other locations if instructed.
  10. Ensuring that any visited locations is throughout inspected by checking locks of gates and doors of all Mission premises, security perimeter lights and alarm systems, as well as ensuring that there is no breach of perimeter fencing or potential threats or unusual situations.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned. 


Necessary Qualifications:

  • Completed secondary education supplemented by advanced physical security and first-aid formal trainings;
  • Valid (B) driving license (C driving license is desirable);
  • At least two years of experience in security and safety area, preferably in international organizations;
  • Established experience using Radio VHF;
  • Computer literate with practical experience in Microsoft applications;
  • Knowledge on the use of CCTV and GPS tracking software;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and in the local languages;
  • Ability to work with people of different nationalities, religions, and cultural backgrounds;
  • Demonstrates gender awareness and sensitivity, and an ability to integrate a gender perspective into tasks and activities.

Remuneration Package:

Monthly remuneration, subject to social security deductions is 792.00 Euro/month. Social benefits will include participation in the OSCE Group Insurance Plan and the OSCE Provident Fund.

Appointments are normally made at step 1 of the applicable OSCE salary scale. At the discretion of the appointing authority, a higher step may be approved up to a maximum of step 3 subject to specific conditions.

The mandatory retirement age at the OSCE is 65 years for contracted positions at the general service, professional and director level. The Organization shall apply an age limit of 63 years at the time of appointment as the incumbent selected is normally expected to carry out the contractual obligation of two years.
