Background:
The OSCE has a comprehensive approach to security that encompasses politico-military, economic and environmental, and human aspects. It therefore addresses a wide range of security-related concerns, including arms control, confidence- and security-building measures, human rights, combating human trafficking, national minorities, democratization, policing strategies, counter-terrorism and economic and environmental activities. All 57 participating States enjoy equal status, and decisions are taken by consensus on a politically, but not legally binding basis.
The Logistics and Security Unit (LSU) is a subunit of the Common Services Department of ODIHR. It is led by ODIHR’s Logistics and Security Officer. In addition to operational security responsibilities, the LSU cares for the day-to-day practical operations and physical security of ODIHR’s headquarters situated in the “Old Town” of Warsaw.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
Under the direct supervision of the Logistics and Security Officer, the Logistics Assistant performs the following duties:
- Providing general transportation and messenger tasks by delivering and collecting official correspondence between ODIHR headquarters, embassies and host government official structures. Providing back-up to the Office Senior Driver during period of their absence (including transport of residents and visiting VIPs). Delivering office equipment to countries near abroad for field activities. Poviding ad hoc transport support for other office activities as needed.
- Supporting fleet maintenance programme by co-ordinating the delivery of official vehicles to repair and inspection facilities and by conducting regular routine driver-level preventive maintenance on vehicles (checks fluid levels, battery condition, tire wear, etc.)
- Supporting outsourced maintenance and repair by facilizing access for service providers and verifying that quality of services provided and terms of contract are met.
- Liaising with host government institutions by registering official and personal vehicles ensuring appropriate status assigned, providing assistance to international staff members who require local driving licenses. Liaising with local law enforcement in coordination with staff who require assistance regarding minor parking or traffic infractions.
Assisting with vital menial tasks throughout the office: carrying out ad hoc low-value shopping outside the normal procurement cycle, assisting the Senior Administrative Assistant and supporting internal meetings and office moves, performing minor repairs of simple equipment and furniture.

Necessary Qualifications:
Completed secondary education,
A minimum of three (3) years of general work experience,
Competent computer skills including standard MS Office suite tools (Outlook, Word, Excel),
At least a category “B” driving license, higher level qualifications is a plus,
Some experience with electronic access control systems is a plus.
Experience in working/liaison with the government institutions including the “City Guards” (Straż Miejska) and “Capitol Police” (Stołecznej Policji), is a plus
Working-level oral and written communication skills in English,
Native professional-level command of oral and written Polish language.
Remuneration Package:
Monthly remuneration, subject to social security deductions, is approximately PLN 6390.
OSCE salaries are exempt from taxation in Poland. Social security will include participation in the Cigna medical insurance scheme (current approximate deduction for a staff member is 68 Euro) and OSCE Provident Fund. The Organization contributes an additional amount equivalent to 15% of the employee's salary to this pension-style fund while the employee contributes 7.5%. Other allowances and benefits are similar to those offered under the United Nations Common System for general services employees.
Appointments are normally made at step 1 of the applicable OSCE salary scale. In exceptional cases, an initial appointment at up to Step 3 may be considered. This depends on factors such as relevant experience exceeding minimum requirements or higher previous remuneration. Any such request by a candidate must be reviewed and approved by the OSCE before the appointment.

The mandatory retirement age at the OSCE is 65 years for contracted positions at the general service, professional and director level. The Organization shall apply an age limit of 62 years at the time of appointment as the incumbent selected is normally expected to carry out the contractual obligation of two years.
